French summer reading for adults

Qui dit été, dit lecture ! Right?!

Reading in French can be such a pleasure, giving you access to wonderful stories, new literary traditions, different cultures and worldviews, and of course, can help you improve your vocabulary and reading comprehension skills!

So far this summer, I have really enjoyed reading:

  • L'été de la sorcière - Nashiki Kaho (A beautiful, dreamy novel about a young girl and her grandmother spending a summer together in rural Japan)

  • Éloge de la lenteur - Carl Honoré (A philosophical treatise "in praise of slowness")

  • Next up in my book queue is Un certain art de vivre - Dany Laferrière (A collection of prose-poems detailing his experiences living in Port-au-Prince, Montréal, New York, Paris...)

And this summer my adult learners (intermediate and advanced) have been reading in French about...

Beginners and younger students are reading picture books and fun short stories like Le petit Nicolas.

Et vous, qu'est-ce que vous lisez en ce moment ? What are you currently reading? Send me an email at FrenchAvecCecile@gmail.com ! I'd love to hear from you.
