About Cecile

Cecile is fluent in French and has eight years of experience working in education, including two school years teaching in a Lycée (secondary school) in rural southeastern France. She is passionate about creating highly personalized French learning experiences that are practical, rigorous, and enjoyable.

Over the course of her career, Cecile has worked with students of all ages, from toddlers to retirees, and all abilities, including neurodivergent learners. She prides herself on taking a warm and student-centred approach, meeting people where they're at, and structuring lessons according to the unique needs and goals of each learner.

Cecile discovered a passion for education and language acquisition during her time teaching at a Lycée (secondary school) in southeastern France. While at the Lycée, Cecile also guest lectured for Philosophy classes and taught coursework for Brevet de technicien supérieur students (BTS, equivalent to community college students).

In Canada, she has extensive experience with curriculum development, instructional design, group facilitation, private tutoring, and previously served as an education advisor to the British Columbia Office of the Human Rights Commissioner.

Cecile studied French Language and Francophone Literature at Brandeis University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude, and with Highest Honors. She has also completed coursework at the Université Grenoble Alpes (formerly Université Stendhal)/Centre Universitaire d'Études Françaises.

Cecile holds a DALF C2 (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française Niveau C2) — the highest achievable credential of French as a foreign language — awarded by the government of France (Ministère de l'Éducation Nationale).

When she is not teaching, Cecile enjoys reading across genres in both English and French,  supporting local agriculture and community gardens, cheering on PWHL Montréal, and spending time with loved ones.
